eTA Canada Visa from Austria

By: Tiasha Chatterjee

There is now a simpler way to obtain eTA Canada Visa from Austria, according to a new effort launched by the Canadian government. The eTA visa waiver for Austrian citizens, which was implemented in 2016, is a multiple-entry electronic travel authorization that enables stays of up to 6 months with each visit to Canada.

The online form for the Canadian visa waiver for Austrian nationals is straightforward and takes only a few minutes to complete. Applicants will subsequently obtain an authorized eTA for Canada, which will be electronically connected to their passports.

Visiting Canada has never been easier since the Government of Canada has introduced the simplified and streamlined process of obtaining electronic travel authorisation or eTA Canada Visa. eTA Canada Visa is an electronic travel authorization or travel permit to visit Canada for a period of time less than 6 months and enjoy the Land of Maple Leaf. International visitors must have a Canadian eTA to be able to witness epic colours of Maple Leaf as the seasons change. Foreign citizens can apply for an eTA Canada Visa online in a matter of minutes. eTA Canada Visa process is automated, simple, and completely online.

Do Travelers from Austria Require A Visa To Enter Canada?

  • All Austrian citizens wanting to visit Canada must have a valid visa waiver or visa to enter the country legally.
  • Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for Austrians is the quickest and easiest way to authorize a journey to Canada.
  • Austrian residents can visit Canada visa-free for up to 6 months by completing a brief online application form.
  • Once accepted, a tourist visa waiver for Canada from Austria is valid for 5 years and allows for additional entries.

What Are the Requirements for Austrian Citizens To Get An eTA Canada Visa?

To receive an electronic travel permit for Canada from Austria, passengers must meet a few prerequisites. Here are a few examples:

  • Travelers wishing to earn a Canadian eTA must arrive in Canada solely by flight. They may not arrive by a land border, such as from the United States, or through a maritime border, such as by boat or cruise.
  • The traveler's passport must be machine-readable and an e-passport (also known as a biometric passport). Austrian passports issued prior to June 2006 are not biometric and will not be accepted for a Canadian eTA.
  • The visitor's visit to Canada must be for tourist, business, transit, or medical reasons.
  • Travelers with an eTA cannot legally apply for work and must apply for another visa type.
  • Because candidates must be over the age of 18, parents or guardians must apply for the Canadian eTA on behalf of their children and dependents.
  • Once the requirements are satisfied, Austrian travelers can apply online for the Canadian electronic visa waiver.

What Is the Application for Canadian eTA For Austrian Citizens?

The first step in obtaining a tourist visa to Canada from Austria is to submit an online application. The application takes roughly 30 minutes to complete and requires the following information:

A valid biometric passport:

All visitors must have a valid Austrian passport that is valid for at least 6 months, to obtain a Canadian eTA.

As previously stated, the Austrian passport must also be biometric and machine-readable. Because the Canadian eTA is electronically connected to the passport, it must be scanned by a machine at the border checkpoint to be checked.

Personal information:

The application will request a few pieces of personal information (such as your address, complete name, and contact information), your occupation and employment, passport information (date of issuance and expiry, passport number, and so on), and travel data.

Phone, tablet, or computer:

You will need a device with internet connectivity, such as a phone, tablet, or computer, to complete the application.

A legitimate form of payment:

Finally, to pay the eTA application fees, you will need a valid form of payment, such as a debit or credit card.

When the application is complete, travelers must pay the eTA cost and wait. Most visitors should expect a decision within a few minutes; however, certain requests may take several days to process owing to high demand or other causes.

We recommend applying for your Canadian eTA at least 72 hours (3 days) ahead of time so that it may be processed and properly linked to your passport.

Steps to fill up the eTA Canada Visa:

  • Online software application: Fill up the online eTA request form and upload electronic documentation.
  • Canada eTA payment: Pay your eTA Canada charge with a Credit or Debit Card.
  • Obtain eTA Canada Visa: Receive an approved ETA via email.

When your Canadian electronic authorization is approved, it is automatically connected to the passport you provided throughout the application process. The Canadian eTA is valid for five years or until the accompanying passport expires, whichever comes first. This means that tourists do not have to reapply for the eTA on a regular basis, even if they want to visit Canada many times.

Please keep in mind that the Canadian eTA can be used for numerous entries as long as they are less than 6 months in length.

FAQs About Traveling to Canada From Austria
How long can an Austrian citizen stay in Canada with the eTA Canada Visa?

Austrian residents having an eTA are permitted to stay in Canada for up to six (6) months.

The Canadian eTA allows any EU citizens, including Austrians, to visit the country without the hassle of obtaining a visa. It is valid for 5 years and permits repeated visits. Each visit has a maximum duration of 6 months.

Austrian residents who wish to stay in Canada for more than six (6) months must apply for the necessary visa(s) and permits (s).

What are the documents required to apply for an eTA Canada Visa from Austria?

To go to Canada from Austria, you must have the following documents:

  • Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
  • A Valid passport

The eTA is a visa waiver that can be obtained online. It allows qualified visitors to enter Canada for tourism, pleasure, or business purposes.

Austrians and other EU nationals can apply for the Canadian eTA online.

When traveling to Canada, you must use the same passport that you used to apply for the eTA.

Passengers living in Austria but not EU citizens may be ineligible for the Canadian eTA. If this is the case, they will have to go through the more time-consuming process of applying for a Canadian visa at an embassy.

How long is the Canadian eTA valid?

The Canadian eTA for Austrians is valid for five (5) years after it is issued.

During this time, Austrian people may visit Canada on many occasions using the eTA. Each journey can last up to 6 months.

The Austrian passport registered in the original application is linked to the Canada eTA. If the passport expires before the eTA, the electronic visa waiver will also expire. In this situation, returning to Canada will necessitate reapplying with a new passport.

The same holds true if the original passport is misplaced, stolen, damaged, or otherwise rendered ineffective.

How many times can an Austrian citizen enter the country with a Canadian eTA?

Austrian nationals possessing a Canadian eTA can enter Canada as many times as they want throughout the 5-year validity period.

The eTA is a multiple-entry electronic travel authorization that can be used as many times as it wants while it is valid. A single visit can take up to 6 months.

Employee and Student eTA in Canada

If you are a worker or a student, you must also meet Canada's entry requirements. A work or study permit is not the same thing as a visa. To enter Canada, you'll also need a valid visiting visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA) in most cases.

If you are applying for your first study or work permit, we will provide you with a visa or eTA if your application is granted. When visiting Canada, make sure you have the following items:

  • Valid passport or travel document - If you require a visa and are flying into a Canadian airport, your passport or travel document must include the visa sticker that we placed in it. If you require an eTA and are going to a Canadian airport, the passport that is electronically connected to your eTA must be presented.
  • A valid work or study permit (if you have one) - You must travel with a current study or work permit, passport, and the necessary travel documents. In case you have a valid work or study permit from an employer or academic institution from Canada, make sure that you carry that on your trip to the country.

Visiting your children or grandchildren in Canada

If you are the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you may be eligible for a super visa.

You can visit your children or grandchildren for up to five years with a super visa. It is a visa that permits multiple entries for up to ten (10) years. When you arrive in Canada, a border services officer will validate your stay.

What Are the Places in Canada That an Austrian Citizen Can Visit?

Visitors to Canada are as charmed by the country's animals and nature as they are by its cultural and culinary offerings. Canoe along Vancouver's curving coastline while viewing the urban skyline or explore the wide arctic plains of Churchill in search of polar bears. Dine on five-star fusion cuisine in Toronto or attend a street-side jazz jam session in Montreal.

These are the greatest places to visit in Canada, whether you're a first-time visitor or a return visitor looking to experience something new. But, because it is the world's second-largest country, you won't be able to see everything in a single trip.

Niagara Falls

The most famous natural wonder in Canada, Niagara Falls, attracts millions of visitors each year. These huge falls, located just over an hour's drive from Toronto at the American border, drop around 57 meters. The falls may be seen from numerous critical sites at an astonishingly close distance.

For well over a century, tourists and daredevils have been drawn to Niagara Falls and the Niagara Gorge. There were numerous efforts between the mid-nineteenth and mid-twentieth century to dive over the falls in various forms of improvised boats and barrels. This, together with tightrope walkers and other attractions resulted in the surrounding town of Niagara Falls developing a carnival-like ambiance that is still there today.

Families will love a stroll down Niagara's infamous Clifton Hill, which leads to the gorge and falls. A cruise to the base of the falls, a climb up the Skylon Tower for a spectacular aerial view, and a peek from the bottom of the falls on the Journey Behind the Falls experience are all popular things to do here.

Banff National Park & the Rocky Mountains

Banff National Park is located in Alberta's breathtaking Rocky Mountains and features some of the country's most beautiful landscapes. The park's turquoise lakes, snow capped summits, and glaciers are all reasonably accessible. Take a lovely drive or go on one of Banff's best hikes.

The park's crown feature is Lake Louise, whose green waters reflect the surrounding mountains and glaciers and where tourists may simply stroll along the beaches. Moraine Lake, another spectacular alpine lake with an even more dramatic setting, is only a short distance away.

The Icefields Parkway, which connects Lake Louise and Jasper, is another popular site in Banff. Banff, located near the park's southern edge, offers a wide range of accommodations, shopping, dining, and nightlife opportunities.

Banff is also a significant winter sports destination, with two of Canada's greatest ski resorts, Lake Louise Ski Resort and Sunshine Village.

Toronto's CN Tower

The magnificent CN Tower, one of Canada's most recognizable structures, stands on the banks of Lake Ontario in Canada's largest metropolis. The tower, which stands 553 meters tall, dominates the skyline.

Fine dining is available at the top in the revolving 360 restaurants, where you may enjoy a meal while looking out over the city and lake. The LookOut and the Glass Floor provide stunning views of the surrounding area. Consider walking outside the enclosed area onto the metal walkway for the CN Tower Edgewalk for extra excitement. You'll be tied in and able to stroll about the building, which stands 116 stories or 356 meters (1,168 feet) above the ground.

Even those who do not wish to climb the tower will find themselves pausing to gaze at the construction, which can be seen from practically anywhere in the city. The tower is illuminated in various colors at night.

Old Quebec (Vieux-Quebec)

Old Quebec is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a historical treasure of Canada. This neighborhood features the city's most historic buildings and is spread across the Upper and Lower Towns of Quebec. The Lower Town, located along the St. Lawrence River, is the historic town and home to the magnificent Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, among other gems. The Citadel, the Plains of Abraham, Place d'Armes, and the Parque Historique de l'Artillerie are all located in the Upper Town, which is perched on 100-meter-high cliffs.

Old Quebec is one of Canada's most popular historical places, and it has a thriving tourism industry. Aside from historical landmarks, other highlights include artists displaying their paintings on Rue du Trésor and noteworthy museums, such as the Musée de la Civilisation; and unique shops and restaurants.
